Welcome to the Bear Dodger's South Pole Expedition

Latest News: An announcement from the Beardodgers

We have postponed our imminent departure for Antarctica.

At the start of this year, when we decided to go, the three of us and the rest of the world were in a more stable financial position. The continued decline in the economic outlook has come at an untimely point for us particularly as we all work for ourselves.

Preparing for such an expedition has a whole raft of physical, mental, organisational and financial hurdles. Having got this far, it is difficult to put it off but we are sure we will see it as a good decision when we step out onto the Antarctic ice in the near future.

Postponing it has lots of positives and new exciting opportunities such as:

  • Providing an opportunity for new companies to have their flags flying at the South Pole.
  • We will be fitter, faster and fatter (It was proving impossible to put on the extra 1 and a half stone.)
  • A longer more focused marketing program which is great news for our sponsors and for Bowel Cancer UK and The Prostate Cancer Charity.
  • Amanda from www.exclusivepressandpublicity.com has more time to help organise us.

We also have a short film of our Polar Bear encounters in Spitsbergen last year for you to have a look: www.beardodgers.com/antarctica.videos

Thanks for your continued support.

The Bear dodgers

A big hello from Charlie, Cynan & David.

We're called the Bear Dodgers after spending a little too much time in the Arctic and having a few close encounters with some polar bears.

Following that expedition in Spitsbergen and a few others we've done in Greenland, Iceland & Scandinavia, we've decided to go to Antarctica. In November 08, we'll begin a 1500 mile trek that will last two and a half months. We'll be skiing 750 miles from the edge of Antarctica to South Pole and then kiting all the way back again. Not a bad way to spend a few months.

This site is pretty new and we have some big plans for it. Right now, the best thing you can do is register and we'll keep you in touch with all the things we are doing.

For all the latest news, please follow our blog which you can find at blog.beardodging.com.

We'll Take Your Image To The South Pole!

That's right - sponsor us and we'll take your image/photo/logo all the way to the South Pole with us and return high resolution photos back to you for you to use how you wish.

So upload a company logo, a picture of your Mum, your family, your mate, whoever you want or whatever you want!

We'll then get the image printed (A4 size) and then we'll carry it with us all the way to the pole. Once there, we'll take a photo with the three of us at the South Pole, holding your image. When we are back, the photos will be able to be downloaded in high resolution from the website, for you to use as you like (completely free of any rights).

You will also be able to print the image in conjunction with some of our media partners if you desire (more on this coming soon).
